Procurement software has a longstanding history, initially aimed at digitizing purchasing and supplier management to efficiently manage data and provide actionable insights. However, over time, data management has emerged as a significant challenge, particularly in scenarios requiring seamless integration of data from diverse systems while ensuring the integrity of a high-quality, singular data source devoid of duplications and adhering to specific standards, classifications, and quality criteria.
Recently, Ivalua organized a webinar titled "Harnessing the Power of Data to Transform Your Procurement Processes," featuring esteemed speakers including Robert Scriven, Head of Supply Chain at ISG, Vishal Patel, VP of Product and Customer Marketing at Ivalua, and Ingerid Sorgaard, Senior Events Producer at Procurement Leaders. This webinar provided valuable insights and effective strategies for addressing common data-related challenges encountered in procurement operations.
Harnessing the Power of Data – Robert Scriven
ISG embarked on a digital transformation journey to address the challenges encountered in their procurement processes. With approximately 7,500 partners in the UK, a substantial portion—1,400 partners—did not record their purchasing data, complicating their data management efforts. Additionally, ISG faced numerous disjointed, fragmented, and siloed processes, particularly in areas such as risk management, pre-qualification systems for legal entities and material or service providers, and addressing specialized client requirements. Furthermore, each site maintained its own procurement practices, exacerbating the complexity of their operations. Moreover, ISG's risk management approach was reactive, lacking a centralized database for supplier management.
Seeking a solution to streamline and automate their data management processes, ISG turned to Ivalua. Given the diverse volume and types of suppliers, significant variation in transaction volumes, and the imperative to adhere to data compliance standards prevalent in the UK construction sector, ISG required a robust, unified Source-to-Pay (S2P) platform with advanced data management and integration capabilities managed centrally.
The implementation of Ivalua's S2P platform yielded significant results for ISG. It successfully managed 47,000 purchase orders totalling over £164 million and processed 12 million social media posts, with only 2% being negative. Additionally, the platform enabled centralized management of ISG's entire supply chain and integrated data for supplier information, pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ) systems for all legal entities, micro-entities, and material/service providers. This integration facilitated advanced search functionalities for various levels of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) partners, proactive risk mitigation, and enhanced data processing speed.
Ivalua's solution also significantly expedited ISG's invoice processing and exception management, achieving notable improvements within just 8 months. ISG identified Ivalua's PQQ and supplier management capabilities, risk monitoring dashboard, ESG-conscious features, and invoice reporting functionalities as particularly valuable for their business needs.
Simplifying Procurement With a Unified S2P Platform – Vishal Patel
Vishal highlights that many customers encounter challenges stemming from inefficiencies in data management. When digitizing their Source-to-Pay (S2P) processes, several companies adopt either a best-of-breed approach or implement a pseudo-unified platform, resulting in significant hurdles:
